{"id":577,"date":"2023-04-06T16:02:51","date_gmt":"2023-04-06T13:02:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/akaunting.com\/hc\/docs\/invoices-estimates\/adding-payment-to-an-invoice\/"},"modified":"2023-05-02T11:19:16","modified_gmt":"2023-05-02T08:19:16","slug":"adding-payment-to-an-invoice","status":"publish","type":"docs","link":"https:\/\/akaunting.com\/hc\/docs\/invoices-and-estimates\/adding-payment-to-an-invoice\/","title":{"rendered":"Adding Payment to an Invoice"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>When an invoice recipient makes a payment for an invoice, you can mark that invoice as paid by selecting <strong>Add payment<\/strong> on the invoice details page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Adding Payment to an Invoice:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Go to <strong>Sales<\/strong> on the <strong>Navigation Menu<\/strong> and select <strong>Invoices<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>On the Invoices page, click on an Invoice to display invoice details.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.akaunting.com\/hc\/2023\/04\/06160741\/add-payment-1024x576.png\" alt=\"Adding Payment to an Invoice\" class=\"wp-image-580\" srcset=\"https:\/\/assets.akaunting.com\/hc\/2023\/04\/06160741\/add-payment-1024x576.png 1024w, https:\/\/assets.akaunting.com\/hc\/2023\/04\/06160741\/add-payment-300x169.png 300w, https:\/\/assets.akaunting.com\/hc\/2023\/04\/06160741\/add-payment-768x432.png 768w, https:\/\/assets.akaunting.com\/hc\/2023\/04\/06160741\/add-payment-1536x864.png 1536w, https:\/\/assets.akaunting.com\/hc\/2023\/04\/06160741\/add-payment.png 1920w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In the <strong>Get Paid<\/strong> section, select <strong>Add Payment. <\/strong>(<em>Ensure you have confirmed payment from the recipient before completing this action<\/em>.)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enter the required details in the Add Payment pop-up window. <strong>Date<\/strong>, <strong>Amount<\/strong>, <strong>Payment method,<\/strong> and <strong>Account <\/strong>are compulsory fields.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Switch Tabs on the pop-up window from <strong>General<\/strong> to <strong>Other <\/strong>for payment description, Transaction Number, and Reference.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Then, <strong>Save<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Once saved, the Invoice status is updated to Paid.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>To accept online payments on Akaunting, add your preferred <a href=\"https:\/\/akaunting.com\/apps\/categories\/payment-method\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">payment methods<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Deleting Invoice Payment<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If an invoice was marked as paid without payment confirmation, you could delete the payment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"602\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.akaunting.com\/hc\/2023\/04\/06160837\/delete-payment-1024x602.png\" alt=\"Deleting Invoice Payment\" class=\"wp-image-581\" srcset=\"https:\/\/assets.akaunting.com\/hc\/2023\/04\/06160837\/delete-payment-1024x602.png 1024w, https:\/\/assets.akaunting.com\/hc\/2023\/04\/06160837\/delete-payment-300x176.png 300w, https:\/\/assets.akaunting.com\/hc\/2023\/04\/06160837\/delete-payment-768x452.png 768w, https:\/\/assets.akaunting.com\/hc\/2023\/04\/06160837\/delete-payment-1536x903.png 1536w, https:\/\/assets.akaunting.com\/hc\/2023\/04\/06160837\/delete-payment-2048x1205.png 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>On the Invoices page, click on the Invoice with <strong>Paid<\/strong> status to display details.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In the Get Paid section, select <strong>Delete Payment.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A pop-up window prompts confirmation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click <strong>Delete<\/strong> to confirm.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Once deleted, the Invoice status returns to Sent.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>You can edit a Payment or Send a receipt of the payment to the recipient.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em>Please note that the recipient must have a defined email address to send a payment receipt.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>When an invoice recipient makes a payment for an invoice, you can mark that invoice as paid by selecting Add payment on the invoice details page.
