Auto update inventory on purchase

Hi All, I just purchased the inventory app and wanted to track vendors for each item, It looks like the way to do this is by creating a purchase with the item in it first, however, it doesn't seem to update the stock on hand quantity when a purchase is marked received. Is there any way to do this? or can this be accomplished wit the Automations app?
