Goodmorning,

In My country (Lithuania), Companies has two codes. One is company code, and another is VAT payer code. Akaunting has only one field for 'code'. All companies has company code, but not all of them has VAT payer code. so basically Akaunting is not usable in Lithuania. Cant even generate invoice, because i need to include both codes if receiving company is VAT payer (majority)... Maybe with paid addon (app or whatever) named custom fields? But that addon costs 1450 (:O) usd, so no.... for that price it is possibe to buy full commercial accounting software...

here is chat gpt explanation of different codes:

In Lithuania there are two different identifiers that often get mixed up:

1. Įmonės kodas (Company code / legal entity code)

This is the unique registration number assigned to every legal entity (UAB, MB, VšĮ, etc.) when it is registered in the Juridinių asmenų registras (Legal Entities Register).

It works like the "personal code" of the company.

Used in all official documents, contracts, accounting, banking, etc.

Example format: 305123456.

Legal basis: Civil Code of the Republic of Lithuania and Law on the Register of Legal Entities.

2. PVM mokėtojo kodas (VAT payer code)

This is a separate number issued when a company registers as a PVM (VAT) payer with the Valstybinė mokesčių inspekcija (VMI – State Tax Inspectorate).

It is not automatically given – you only get it if you voluntarily register or if you must register by law (e.g., when annual turnover exceeds 45,000 EUR, or in certain cross-border situations).

Format: LT + company code (e.g., LT100012345678).

Used in invoices, tax declarations, EU cross-border trade.

Legal basis: Pridėtinės vertės mokesčio įstatymas (VAT Law, 2002-03-05 Nr. IX-751).

✅ Key difference:

Company code = identification of the legal entity itself.

VAT payer code = identification of that entity as a VAT taxpayer.

Many companies in Lithuania have only a company code (if they are not VAT payers). If they become VAT payers, then they also get a VAT code in addition to the company code.
