Good day, how does one enter the opening balance for a customer when you are using Akauting for an already existing/operating company?
Is the only way is to create a fictitious invoice dated the last day of the previous financial year so that one can bring it in?
Hi, was a solution found for this? I am busy trying to transfer an existing company into Akaunting

Thanks Mark but that pertains to bank balances. The questions relates to customer/vendor opening balances.
Hi Hylton
I guess this is the only way. to capture the outstanding invoices or bills. I just used the last day e.g 29th February so that I can have an opening Trial Balance which match the TB of my previous accounting system to check that everything I am bringing in to Akauting does balance.
Philippe
Hi again
Also on the invoice description I put either put the total amount owing as opening balance or each invoices. Whatever is most appropriate in your case.
Thanks Philippe, I was also looking at the vendor statements app which seems to have opening balances. Have you used that app?
No unfortunately not as I notice one has to add a lot of modules to make Akaunting a full fledge accounting package. Let me know about the vendor statement application. My email [email protected]
just in case Thanks The customer statement is more useful than the vendor statement as you will need this to sent statement to your customers. The vendor one is more for reference. what I also mean if you decide to make a purchase why not go with the customer statement? How do you know they include opening balance
Thanks, sorry I meant the customer app, Looking at the screenshots I noticed an opening balance under the document type, so thought it may introduce a new document type for opening balance, similar to credit/debit note.
Hi Hylton can you check if the vendor or customer statement need a subscription. I bought the double entry application and notice that it will be expired soon meaning it has to be renewed. I never notice it has a yearly renewal
