having problem with new user

I created several companies.  I created new user and setup this user to access several companies.  However, this new user cannot login using the email address specified for the user.  Username and password are correct.

one user can login using the email address/password but the companies assigned to this user do not show up on the dashboard.

other user cannot login using the specified email address.  when clicked forget password, the app does not recognize this email address in the system.

Please help.
