Password reminder is not working

Password reminder is not working when existing user requests the reminder on below URL.

https://{my hostname}/auth/forgot

The button after entered the intended email address is animating, but no reminder email has sent, and
Also 500 error codes have found on Apache log.

"POST /auth/forgot HTTP/1.1" 500 33

Is there any workaround for this? I'm using "2.1.20-Stable".

im looking at resetting it with SQL but there is no documentation !

Any update on this issue? Coz I'm experiencing it right now. I already configured the SMTP properly, coz when i add a user it properly sends an invite email. But when I log out and then try the forgot password button, it hangs, then sometimes it would show "We cannot find a user with that e-mail address" even thought the email I used is already in the database.
