Tax and Payroll Filing

I'm currently using Quickbooks Desktop with Payroll and regularly use the built in process to file tax forms such as annual 940, quarterly 941, state unemployment, and payroll. I also use the built in feature to electronically send tax payments to the IRS and state. With Quickbooks Desktop probably going away soon and them forcing everyone to use their online version I am very interested in a self hosted solution so that I can "own" my data. I see that Akaunting has a Payroll add on feature but will it also electronically file forms and make payments or would that have to be done manually? I'm happy to pay a reasonable amount for these type of services or add-ons. Quickbooks has become too expensive and difficult to deal with. Thanks.

Of course Akaunting seems to be your exact solution.

You can both use it on your own server and take advantage of the payroll feature. You only need to make payments and payroll declaration manually for now. In the following days, these improvements will be included in the system.
