Too good to be true...

Hi Folks,

I seek to replace Intuit products, now that Quicken has become a subscription, and I suspect Quickbooks is going to follow closely. I stumbled on Akaunting and on first review it appears to good to be true. If a company makes no revenue, then it would be here later, regardless of the promises. What's the catch? How can software of this quality and with this extensive of a feature set be free?

Second, since it is always easier to get into trouble than to get out of trouble, I see that there are various import abilities, but I don't see any export abilities. Am I missing something?

Thanks for the help,

Chris.

Hello Chris,

Our revenue model is through the App Store https://akaunting.com/apps

As for your second question, there is an export feature on each page.

Since I am unable to post a new discussion topic, I have to add to this one...

Hi Folks,

Since I seek to replace Intuit products and they all know how to transact with my bank using OFX, I need to know if Akaunting can do likewise. There are two ways to do this:

  • Web Connect

  • Direct Connect

I would accept either, but I would much prefer "Direct Connect".

I see "OFX Import" in the application store, which implies that I can update my register according to the bank activity, but it does not say if the bank will accomodate my activity, meaning send checks on my behalf.

Thanks for the help,

Chris.

Hi Denis,

I cannot add a new discussion to the general forum. I get a 500 Error, whatever that is, and a screen that says, "Oops. Something wrong happened." This has been the case since I first posted this topic, and I initially thought that new contributors were being limited to a single thread until such time as it was determined that they were not spammers, but I now think that there is something else at work here.

Hi Denis,

> There is no limit in topic creation so please, try again.

Yes. I'm aware that is true. The last line of my most recent post says, "... but I now think that there is something else at work here."

I tried to create a new topic before I expended the effort to create my most recent post, and again ten seconds ago. Nothing has changed in the last week.

QuickBooks Pro Desktop > Akaunting - Is there an import or migration option to go from QuickBooks Pro Desktop > Akaunting. I really like the program but would like to migrate all my old data over.
