Does Softaculous have to install all updates?

I am running Akaunting on my WEB provider's server. They have Softaculous Script Installer. I used that to install Akaunting 2.1.20.

Inside Akaunting I have an UPDATE notice for 2.1.22 and a button to click to install it.

Dare I? I mean, is this something one is SAFE to do?

Or do I have to wait for Softaculous to update their image and then my install??

Thanks in advance!

Still looking for an answer on this. Now Softaculous shows they have the 2.1.28 version, I am running 2.1.20 version. I dont have an UPDATE icon in Softaculous control panel. Why?

Akaunting has an UPDATE button inside of it. I backed up and tried that.
Now, a few minutes later it is holding at 40% "Extracting files".

After 2 hours at 40%, I refreshed the page. It said I was logged out, logged back in, and I am still at 2.1.20. It wants me to install the update to 2.1.28 again.

Apparently not. Although I having a problem with the updater, it seems they designed it to run from inside the project to update it.

I suppose Softaculous might still be the way to update major version changes.

And unless I figure out how to fix the internal updater, I will use Softaculous to setup a new install of the latest code and migrate from the old one.

I Hope You get an answer and a solution for this problem. I do have a similar situation here.

If you are using their cloud service, they will fix "anything". If you are self-hosted, like me, they will refer you to the free forum. And suggest you consider purchasing a support package. Either choice is fair.

I am a cheap B'tard though. So I am working on fixing it myself. There are database differences between 2.1.20 and 2.1.35, additional fields added.

Some tables are "singles" in that they do not have direct relations to other tables. The Items DB or Contacts list for example. Although the order of records is important since they link to other tables.

Some tables have relations, like Invoices links to a list of items.

The built-in IMPORT/EXPORT can handle the single tables. But it has not mechanism for the linked one. When I tested importing "Invoices" for example, it did not seem to import anything, and did not ask me about the missing items for each invoice.

This is a bit of a sticky wicket!

I am at the point now where I rounded up all the related tables into an SQL file, but after I import it I get an invalid EMPLOYEE reference. So I have to go back through it looking for a link I missed.
