Email issues

Hi Support and everyone, I am testing this amazing software and one error I came accross is emails.
I have used PHPmail (it works fine on my own website) but does not work with Akaunting. So I tried SMTP (same settings I used in my outlook email) but no avail.

Any ideas why this is the case ? I am searching this forums for some answers as well but not getting anywhere.

Thank you for your feedback. Please make sure that you go to "email settings" and then from the accordion menu "Protocol" change to SMTP the Protocol and to find the Gmail SMTP server, you can use these details:

Gmail SMTP server address: smtp.gmail.com
Gmail SMTP name: Your full name
Gmail SMTP username: Your full Gmail address (e.g. [email protected])
Gmail SMTP password: The password that you use to log in to Gmail
Gmail SMTP port (TLS): 587(Please check those numbers on Gmail settings of you)
Gmail SMTP port (SSL): 465(Please check those numbers on Gmail settings of you)

There are also some other common (but not universal) Gmail SMTP settings you might find when trying to set things up. Here’s how to answer them if you encounter them:

Requires SSL: Yes
Requires TLS: Yes
Requires authentication / Use authentication: Yes
Requires secure connection / Use secure connection: Yes

Thank you for the reply. I did all these steps prior to opening the ticket but quick clarification.
Does it have to be gmail ?
Can't I use my own server settings (which I actually did and not working).

It should be working. We did the necessary tests and working fine. You should be checking your email hosting provider again
