How to safely update from v 2.1.9 to latest v 2.1.17?

Hello, How to safely update/upgrade v 2.1.9 to v 2.1.17? I have couple of akaunting software on my server. Both has data, so I don't want to mess up with it if it broke half way or at 80%.
