Installation on local machine

I m a non-IT person. I downloaded the package and unzipped it to my Google Drive. I want to ask how to run the http://your-domain/akaunting-directory I tried http://userid/address to google drive but nothing opens in the browser. Further, what is the need to go through this unconventional installation process for a simple accounting software? Why not have a simple installer file?

You can't run it off a google drive.

You need php and mysql. Do you have a cpanel account for your domain? You need to upload the application there. (likely under something like public_html\akounting-directory)

Asif, you can use the Cloud service if you're a non-IT person, it's totally free:

Actually I wanted to know if it is possible to install on local drive so in case internet is not there so still I can use the software as I am liking it. But I could not see any installation file.

Does it install only on server / domain and not on local computer at all?

If not desktop then yes, online is what I intend to use because I didn't understand Kushal's response about php and mysql (my IT knowledge deficiency). But thanks Kushal and Denis.

Further, is there a "chart of accounts" structure or only "categories" in the software?

You can install Akaunting anywhere. Here you can find the requirements: https://akaunting.com/docs/requirements

Asif, you need to install a web server package on your local machine.

Do a search for WAMP and try that, for Windows machines.

You will be running a web server on your local machine and accessing that. So it's a local instance of a web server. Hope that makes sense.

In fact, check out XAMPP here https://www.apachefriends.org/index.html

Thank you Jonathan for the response. I too, like Asif, am not an IT person but your response made it clearer. So what would be the next step after installing the web server?
