Non-Starter Akaunting Install fails

New to Akaunting but it should not be this difficult. I must be missing something blatantly obvious but missing it non the less. ;-)
System: MacOS Catalina/XAMPP/localhost
hitting http://localhost/Invoice/index.php simply shows a blank screen. No errors that I can find and no idea where to start looking. Any guidance would be appreciated.
