Importing Bank Transactions

Estimated reading: 2 minutes

Akaunting makes it easy to import your bank transactions and see all business accounts across multiple banks in one place.

There are two ways to Import Bank Transactions:

  1. Manual file Import
  2. Automatic Bank Feeds

Manual File Import

You need the MT940 or OFX to manually import your bank transactions into Akaunting. See how to Install or Purchase an app on Akaunting.

Manually Importing Bank Transactions:

  • Go to Banking on the Navigation menu.
  • Select MT940/OFX Import from the expanded options.

OFX (Open Financial Exchange) and MT940 (Message Type 940) are text files containing financial data. Banks allow the downloading of bank statements in this format.

Depending on your region, the bank could use the OFX or MT940 file format.

  • On the MT940/OFX Import page, Select the Account.
  • Click the MT940/OFX Import box to upload an MT940/OFX file.

You could also request this file from your Bank.

  • Click Save.
  • Wait for a few seconds. This may vary depending on the size of the data.

Imported Bank transactions are available in the Transactions.

Automatic Bank Feeds

You can also auto-sync your bank transactions using Bank Feeds. When you connect your bank, transactions are automatically imported to your Akaunting dashboard, allowing you to spend more time growing your business.

Check out how to use Bank Feeds or read more about the Bank Feeds app.
